BCPO seizes P4.9M shabu in one month

BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized a total of 724.06 grams of suspected shabu valued at P4,923,608 during a series of operations conducted since Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica took charge of the city police force on July 23.

According to the BCPO, 27 anti-drug operations were carried out between July 23 and August 22, resulting in the arrest of 31 individuals.

In its campaign against wanted persons, the BCPO conducted 42 operations, leading to the capture of four most-wanted individuals and 38 others charged with various offenses.

The BCPO also conducted five operations against loose firearms, which resulted in the confiscation of five firearms and the arrest of five individuals.

Additionally, during the annual verification of loose firearms, 12 firearms were surrendered, and four others were deposited with the BCPO.

In the fight against illegal gambling, the BCPO arrested 60 individuals in 21 operations. A total of P9,401 in bet money was confiscated during these operations.

The BCPO also announced that Coronica was recently appointed as the permanent city director of the BCPO, effective August 27.

In response to his appointment, Coronica expressed his gratitude to Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez and vowed that his commitment to public safety and relentless pursuit of justice would lead to even greater accomplishments in the coming months.

The BCPO remains dedicated to its mission to protect and serve the people of Bacolod City, ensuring peace and order. Coronica also emphasized the importance of community cooperation, particularly in the campaign against illegal activities.

He expressed hope that his leadership would inspire his personnel to do even more to make the city a safe place to live and conduct business.
