BCPO: No Major Crimes Reported in Bacolaodiat Festival

BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reported zero crime incidents during the weeklong celebration of the 20th Bacolaodiat Festival from January 28 to February 2.

Police credited the peaceful Chinese New Year festivities to the deployment of an extensive security force, including uniformed personnel, force multipliers, and intelligence operatives.

Security personnel were stationed at key festival areas, including the Yuan Thong Temple along Burgos Street, the Lantern Street Dance and Cultural Competition, the Emperor’s Market at North Capitol Road, and Lacson Streets, as well as shopping malls.

Roving patrols and checkpoints were also implemented to prevent untoward incidents, particularly in festival sites, while traffic enforcers ensured the smooth flow of vehicles and pedestrians.

A total of 200 personnel were deployed to maintain peace and order throughout the event.

BCPO expressed gratitude to the people of Bacolod, festival organizers, and all agencies involved for their cooperation in ensuring a safe and joyous celebration of Chinese-Filipino culture and tradition.

Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez on Monday described the festival as a success.

He also thanked SM Prime Holdings Inc. and executive committee chairman Hans T. Sy, who was declared an adopted son and honorary mayor of Bacolod during the event, for his continued commitment to the city’s growth.
