BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), has not recorded any election-related violence during the conduct of elections on May 9.
The election was generally peaceful, according to the BCPO, as all 45 polling centers here were secured and guarded, days before the election day until the time when all the election returns have been transported back to the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Bacolod.
The BCPO has also not recorded any violation of the liquor ban.
But the City Election Monitoring Action Center (CEMAC) of the BCPO confiscated 13 firearms and nine bladed weapons which is in violation of Comelec Resolution No. 10728 on the Ban on Bearing, Carrying or Transporting Firearms and Deadly Weapons from the start of the election period on January 9 until the election day, May 9, 2022.
Police Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir, BCPO director, said he was satisfied with the result of the security preparations rendered by the BCPO personnel and other government agencies which have helped in making the elections peaceful and orderly.
Martir also conveyed his appreciation to the community and the public for their cooperation to the government’s efforts to deliver a safe, accurate, fair and honest elections.
All efforts have paid off and as election period is nearing its end, the PNP organization enjoins everybody’s commitment to the elected government officials and work as one for our beloved Bacolod City, he said.
