BCPO conducts strict inspection on out-of-town vehicles

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is conducting strict inspection and screening of vehicles coming from outside of the city.

This after the Negros Occidental downgraded its Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to General Community Quarantine (GCQ) starting May 1.

Police Colonel Henry Biñas, BCPO director, said he added three inner border control check-up points in major areas in the city to closely guard and control the movement of vehicles entering the city since Bacolod is still under the ECQ until May 15.

The three additional border control points are situated at Lacson Street in Barangay Mandalagan, Cegasco in Barangay Pahanocoy, and Helvetia Heights in Barangay Villamonte.

At present, the city has seven outer and 30 inner border control points.

Biñas said many vehicles were seen here Monday with a long queue of vehicles reported along Lacson Street on Tuesday as city police strengthened border control measures.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said that many residents from out of town go to banks here, plus the fact that the essential services have opened in the province, and these businesses are exempted, so they are now in the city.

Biñas said police officers check the documents of travelers to ensure that they are allowed to enter the city for approved purposes.
