BACOLOD City – Bacolod City Police Office spokesman Lt. Col. Ariel Pico Friday said police investigators are facing hardships in probing the daytime murder of Patrolman Eric Alcosaba.
Alcosaba was on Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) status when he was gunned down by four unidentified suspects last week near a fast-food chain at the Burgos- Circumferential road.
Pico said the killing of Alcosaba is a priority case of the BCPO.
He admitted, though, that the investigation is going slow because of difficulties encountered by investigators.
Pico cited for instance that the security camera of the fast-food chain was not functioning during the incident.
“It could have been a big help especially in identifying the suspects,” Pico told Daily Guardian here.
However, he said police probers already have a person of interest who could provide information vital to resolving the case.
As to the motive Pico said police investigators are pursuing whether it is drug-related or purely personal.
He also said that the kin of Alcosaba is also cooperating with the investigation.
“We are positive we can solve this case in due time,” Pico said.
