Batad’s most wanted man nabbed in Capiz

The no. 1 most wanted person in Batad, Iloilo was arrested after more than eight years of skirting the law.
Police identified the suspect as Renante Salazar, 39, a resident of Barangay Pasayan, Batad, Iloilo.
Members of Batad and Maayon police stations arrested the suspect at Barangay Poblacion Ilaya, Maayon, Capiz afternoon of March 8, 2021.
Lieutenant Ma. Rosela Buenvenida, Batad police chief, said the suspect was the subject of an arrest warrant for murder in Criminal Case No. 2013-5761.
Judge Rogelio Amador of the Regional Trial Court Branch 66, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo issued the warrant on Jan. 28, 2013.
No bail was recommended for his temporary freedom.
Buenvenida said Salazar was accused of killing another man in Barangay Caw-i, Batad over personal grudges.
He immediately fled and hid in several areas, including Metro Manila.
Recently, Buenvenida said they received information that he was seen in Maayon town where he had relatives.
Buenvenida said that Salazar was later found to be seeking refuge at his uncle’s house in the area.
Salazar is now detained.
