BACOLOD City – A barangay watchman or tanod is facing charges for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition after he was arrested in a gun raid at Purok Katilingban, Barangay San Isidro, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
Police identified the suspect as Edwin Rodrigazo, 58, of the said barangay.
Police Captain Hancel Lumandaz, town police chief, said they applied a search warrant against Rodrigazo following reports against him for alleged indiscriminate firing or alarm and scandal.
“Kung makainom siya abi, ga maoy siya kag gapalupok kuno,” Lumandaz added.
Police recovered from Rodrigazo’s house a .45-caliber pistol, three magazines with six ammunition each of the same caliber, a holster with six ammunition of the same caliber, 38 more ammunitions of the same firearm, a homemade .38 caliber revolver, a silencer for .45 caliber pistol, and two bags.
Lumandaz said that a barangay watchman is not allowed to possess a firearm.
“Wala man siya nag hambal kung diin niya gin kuha ang armas,” he added.
