Barangay Tanod Shot Dead in Maayon

MAAYON, Capiz — A barangay tanod was shot and killed Thursday night, April 10, outside his home in Barangay New Guia, Maayon, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as Felizardo Aro Agris Sr., 65, and the suspect as Joel Borlado de Mayo, alias “Nono,” 45, both residents of the barangay.
Initial investigation revealed the shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. while most residents were asleep.
The suspect reportedly passed by the victim’s home, drew a homemade 12-gauge shotgun or “pugakhang,” and shot Agris in the back without warning.
The victim was rushed to Bailan District Hospital in Pontevedra but was declared dead on arrival.
A hot pursuit operation is ongoing as police continue to investigate the case.
