BACOLOD City – Mayor Rhumyla Nicor Mangilimutan of La Castellana, Negros Occidental told reporters Friday that the trip of Bailes de Luces dancers to Italy and Korea were cancelled due to the threat of COVID -19.
The mayor said she cannot put at risk the health and safety of the group.
Mangilimutan said All Dance International also wrote her that they are still waiting for the developments in the coronavirus health crisis.
Gabriela Coronel, manager of the All Dance Intercontinental Rome 2020, said that “it is premature to determine or resolve the reprogramming of the championship or its realization.
“We depend on the evolution of the situation and decision of national and international health and migratory authorities,” Coronel said.
Mangilimutan said the schedule of the festival is April 26 which is also the Panaad Festival of the province.
She said she will instead focus on Panaad on April 20-26.
She said that she has also decided that Bailes de Luces will no longer participate in the Korea International Dance as well scheduled in May this year citing the Covid-19 threat.
