Bailes de Luces highlights on Jan. 5

BACOLOD City – Mayor Rhummyla Nicor-Mangilimutan of La Castellana, Negros Occidental said the town’s festival Bailes de Luces will participate in Cebu City’s Sinulog Free Style Category contest this month.
Mangilimutan revealed this during the opening of the Bailes de Luces festival on Dec 30, 2022 which drew thousands of spectators.
Bailes de Luces or Dances of Lights returned to the streets of La Castellana last week after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mangilimutan enjoined everyone to come and see the highlight of the festival on Jan 5, 2023.
She also said that this year’s Bailes de Luces is grander and has leveled up compared to past editions.
The municipal government also extended financial assistance to the participating barangays.
Mangilimutan also revealed that this year’s prizes will be higher after 5th District Rep. Dino Yulo gave P200,000.
Previously, the mayor said the municipal government offered a P100,000 prize for the champion and P75,000 for the 1st runner-up.
As far as the Sinulog contingent is concerned, Mangilimutan said she will gather about 100 to 150 dancers
She said the last time Bailes de Luces participated in the Sinulog, it landed 3rd place.
