BACOLOD CITY – Bago City Mayor Marina Mayette Javellana-Yao lauded the city’s softball team for bringing pride and honor to Bago as they head to the 2025 Senior League Softball World Series in Delaware, USA, set for July 28 to Aug. 3.
The Bagonhon softbelles earned the World Series berth after sweeping all six games in the Senior League Softball Asia-Pacific and Middle East Regional Tournament in Indonesia.
The team is composed mostly of students from Ramon Torres National High School.
Players include Erica Arnaiz, Icelle Tanaman, Larny Joy Aquino, Mary Antoinette Sicapore, Ann Dyana Buenage, Julie Ann Buenafe, Audrie Sarsona, Biel Coline Tanaman, Nice Lobrido, Casandra Sumatra, Ashley Ortiz, Daniela Bejos, Maria Kimberly Alipato, Froline Manalo, Jean Scharlet Estrada and Ashevielle Dela Cruz.
Many of them were also part of the 2023 championship team that won the Junior League Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington.
During their courtesy visit on Tuesday, July 8, Yao expressed excitement about watching the team compete in the upcoming games.
“Thank you for the strong heart, grit and passion that you put in sports, and may you inspire more Bagonhons to become softball players like you,” she said.
“Madamo gid nga salamat, and see you back soon,” she added.
Joining the visit were Team Manager and Head Coach Francis Fuentes; Assistant Head of Delegation Leo Dayot; DepEd SGOD Chief Orlando Cezar; RTNHS Officer-in-Charge Principal Mary Jane Araneta; Coaches Arcel John Aligno, Alfon John Sumaria and Vicky Rose Belleza; and Team Moms Jullyn Benguelo and Ma. Jocelyn Denila.
