BACOLOD CITY — The Public Information Office (PIO) of the city government is urging the public, especially Bacolodnons, to be cautious following the existence of a fake Facebook page impersonating Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez.
“It has come to our attention that there is a fake page impersonating the mayor. Please help us report this page to Facebook,” the PIO said in an advisory posted on social media yesterday.
The poser recently started adding and chatting with some people on social media.
Public Information Officer Carmela Gamboa stressed the importance of not engaging with the fake Facebook page.
“Let us be cautious and only follow the official page of Mayor Albee Benitez for accurate updates and information,” the PIO said.
The official Facebook page of Benitez is a verified account with 237,000 followers.
