Bacolod top cop vows to go tough on crime amid COVID-19

BACOLOD City – Colonel Manuel Placido has committed to continue the aggressiveness of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in the campaign against criminalities and illegal activities amid the city police’s force fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Placido, the newly designated acting BCPO director, told Daily Guardian that he met the 10 police chiefs and other personnel during their first command conference at the headquarters yesterday.

He arrived here on October 1 and paid a courtesy call to Mayor Evelio Leonardia at the Bacolod City Government Center.

During his meeting with the BCPO personnel, Placido stressed that police operations against illegal activities is non-negotiable.

“Kung kailangan hulihin, huhulihin talaga,” he said.

He said it is their priority, although he claimed that it could also make policemen expose to the threat of the virus.

“Kailangan talaga ang pag-iingat ng bawat isa, kasi trabaho namin eh,” he added.

He also highlighted the importance of having a good relationship in the community, as this will also help them in their crime prevention efforts.

He said he will not make any movement on the BCPO personnel since their focus now is on COVID efforts and police operations.
