Bacolod stabbing suspect arrested after hot pursuit

BACOLOD CITY — Police arrested a 27-year-old stabbing suspect hours after a fatal incident at Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Barangay Singcang-Airport on the evening of April 28, 2026, the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region said.
The suspect was identified as alias “Ty,” male, single, and a resident of Purok Paloma, Barangay 16, Bacolod City.
Initial police reports said the stabbing happened at around 8:45 p.m.
The victim was identified as alias “Jan,” of legal age, and a resident of Purok 1, Magsungay, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City.
Police said the victim sustained multiple stab wounds inflicted by the suspect using a bladed weapon.
Responding personnel of Police Station 8, Bacolod City Police Office, sought the assistance of a DRRMO ambulance for the victim’s immediate evacuation to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.
The victim was declared clinically dead by the attending physician, police said.
Police said the suspect fled the scene after the attack.
PS8 personnel launched a coordinated hot pursuit operation based on available information.
The suspect was apprehended at approximately 11 p.m. on the same date at Purok Sarisa, Barangay 3, Bacolod City.
Police said the suspect is now under the custody of PS8 for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges.
