BACOLOD CITY – As part of its partnership with the Department of Transportation, Bacolod City is conducting a comprehensive profiling of all public utility jeepneys (PUJs) operating within the city to update its mass public transport study.
The profiling began on April 30 and runs through May 9, 2025, at the Bacolod City Government Center.
This initiative, led by Mayor Albee Benitez, follows the recent visit of Transportation Secretary Vivencio Dizon and supports the city’s broader plan to modernize and enhance its sustainable public transport system.
Dr. Mary Jean Ramos, head of the City Planning and Development Office, said the profiling covers registered modernized PUJs, operators consolidated under the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program with incomplete documentation from the LTFRB and LTO, and unconsolidated operators currently operating.
She said the goal is to build a more efficient, reliable and environmentally sustainable transport network.
During a recent conference, Secretary Dizon and Mayor Benitez agreed to jointly review the national modernization program, identify implementation gaps and address concerns raised by operators, drivers and passengers.
