BACOLOD CITY – Three individuals, including a teenager, were arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) that led to the confiscation of PHP 1,020,000 worth of suspected shabu in Barangay 3 early Friday, January 3.
The operation marked the CDEU’s first major success of the year and resulted in the apprehension of “Jiji,” 22, along with his neighbors “Erica,” 24, and “Edron,” 18, all residents of the same village.
Police Capt. Genus David, CDEU assistant chief, disclosed that Jiji had previously been jailed for a drug-related offense and was released in October last year. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his release.
Jiji is classified as a high-value individual, while Erica and Edron are tagged as street-level individuals (SLIs).
David stated that Jiji was placed under surveillance following reports of his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade. He added that the three suspects reportedly conspired in selling illegal drugs.
The suspects are now detained at Police Station 2 and face charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reaffirmed its commitment to combating illegal drugs and called on the public to support ongoing government efforts to eradicate the drug menace in communities.
