By Glazyl M. Jopson

BACOLOD CITY — The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is set to deploy 1,034 police officers and force multipliers to ensure public safety, maintain peace and order, and provide assistance during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 1 and 2, respectively.
Of the total deployment, 506 are police personnel, 366 are government uniformed and intelligence personnel, and 162 are from other units and force multipliers.
The security personnel will be stationed at public and private cemeteries, memorial parks, columbaria, bus terminals, seaports, motorist assistance centers, and other areas where large crowds are expected.
Police assistance desks (PADs) and assistance hubs will also be established in strategic areas to assist visitors, tourists, and cemeterygoers, strengthen police visibility, deter criminal activities, and ensure prompt assistance to the public.
The BCPO will also intensify regular patrols and checkpoint operations, conduct appropriate security screenings, and coordinate with local government units, barangay tanods, and other partner agencies to maintain a safe and orderly observance of this year’s Undas.
The security preparations are part of the broader Undas 2026 operations of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), which has announced the deployment of 3,119 security personnel across Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3.
The BCPO has also prepared traffic management measures near cemeteries, including planned road restrictions around Burgos Public Cemetery from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 to accommodate ongoing construction and vendors.
The public is reminded to observe cemetery rules and applicable local ordinances during their visits.
The city police also reminded the public that bringing firearms and deadly weapons, consuming alcoholic beverages, gambling, and playing loud music through videoke machines or speakers are prohibited in cemeteries, subject to applicable regulations.
The BCPO urged residents to remain vigilant, safeguard their personal belongings, follow traffic advisories, and immediately report suspicious activities to the nearest police officer or assistance desk.
For those leaving their homes to visit cemeteries or travel during Undas, the BCPO reminded residents to secure their houses, switch off electrical appliances when appropriate, and keep valuables in safe places.
Police also encouraged the public to cooperate with security personnel and observe safety measures to ensure a peaceful and orderly commemoration of the departed.
