The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bacolod assisted a pregnant woman in delivering her baby girl in front of the central fire station on San Juan Street on Saturday.
Fire Officer 2 Paul Servano, BFP-Bacolod spokesperson, said personnel responded to an emergency labor situation at around 10 a.m. involving a 22-year-old woman who arrived on a tricycle.
The mother remained conscious throughout the ordeal and gave birth at 10:12 a.m. while still seated in the tricycle.
Servano said the woman had been on her way to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital when the tricycle encountered mechanical trouble in the area of Barangay Banago.
The driver attempted to push the vehicle toward the hospital, but they stopped at the fire station as the woman’s labor progressed rapidly.
BFP personnel assisted in the safe delivery before the mother and newborn were transported to the hospital.
Servano said the woman, a resident of Barangay Singcang-Airport, had been in Barangay Bata the previous night.
