Bacolod dengue cases up 13.2% this month; leptospirosis down 69%

BACOLOD City – Recent data from the Bacolod City Epidemiological Surveillance Unit (BCESU) suggested a slight increase in dengue cases in April compared to the same period last year.
A PIO report cited City Health Office Environment Sanitation Division head Dr. Grace Tan as saying that Bacolod tallied 77 dengue cases as of April 9, 2022.
The figure is 13.2 percent higher than cases reported last year at 68 with two fatalities, she added.
Barangay Singcang remained on top of the list with the most number of dengue cases with nine, followed by Barangays Granada and Estefania, eight; Barangays Mansilingan and Mandalagan, seven; Barangay Sum-ag, six; Barangay Tangub, five; Barangay Banago, four and Barangays Cabug and Pahanocoy with three cases each.
Meanwhile, leptospirosis reports dropped to 69.2 percent lower this month with only four cases and two deaths.
Bacolod had 13 recorded cases during the same period last year, alongside two fatalities, Tan explained.
