BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized P73,031,459.20 worth of illegal drugs from January to December 2019.
Shabu accounted for much of the seizure at 6,083.026 grams valued at P72,996,312 while 152.8139 grams of marijuana (valued at P35,147.20) were confiscated last year.
Police Colonel Henry Biñas, BCPO director, said that 623 anti-illegal drug operations were conducted resulting in the arrest of 962 persons, including 111 high value targets, 115 street level targets, 20 minors, and 715 newly identified drug personalities. One person died in one of the operations.
A total of 1,589 cases were filed in court.
The drug haul last year was higher compared to 2018 where only P33,963, 287.71 worth of illegal drugs were seized.
Biñas said the big seizure of illegal drugs last year was the result of the series of anti-illegal drug operations of all 10 police stations here, including BCPO units.
“If we cannot address the use of illegal drugs, the supply of drugs will remain,” he said.
He added that he implemented a “free for all operations” wherein all station commanders can operate even outside their areas of jurisdiction to prevent the proliferation of illegal drugs in the city.
He said they are monitoring three drug groups here but refused to identify them.
