Depression triggered by family problems allegedly drove a 27-year old woman to attempt to jump off from an overpass in Mandurriao, Iloilo City early evening of Feb. 11, 2020.
The woman was only identified as alias Maying, a resident of Barangay Talaban, Bacolod City.
Traffic aides, motorists and passersby were taken aback when they saw Maying sitting on the edge of the overpass at Barangay San Rafael around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
She was seen crying while holding on to the railings.
Traffic enforcers allegedly asked her to go with them.
Famished, she was given food while authorities were called to pick her up.
Maying was brought to the hospital before she was turned over to the Iloilo City Social Welfare and Development Office.
According to Maying, she arrived in Iloilo on February 4 with the goal of looking for a job.
Born in Barangay Camang-Camang, Isabela, Negros Occidental, the woman has a live-in partner and two children.
However, his live-in partner allegedly jilted her. On top of that, her second child also died.
When she arrived in Iloilo City last week, she loitered along the area of B. Aquino Ave. or Diversion Road. She survived by receiving food from passersby.
She was scheduled for a psychiatric evaluation Wednesday while authorities reached out to her family in Bacolod City.
