Chanelle Avaricio and Lloyd Go carry winning form into Pampanga as the Ladies Philippine Golf Tour and Philippine Golf Tour shift to the ICTSI Pradera Verde Championship beginning Tuesday, July 7, at Pradera Verde Golf and Country Club in Lubao.
The women’s tournament is set July 7–9, while the men’s championship runs July 7–10 on the Arayat Course, according to the official LPGT and PGT schedules.
Avaricio enters the fourth leg of the LPGT circuit organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. after a stirring comeback victory at Pinewoods Golf Club in Baguio.
Her latest title came after she fended off Harmie Constantino and Tiffany Lee, using a blistering front-nine rally before surviving a tense finish to win by one stroke.
The victory reinforced Avaricio’s ability to recover from setbacks.
Earlier this season, she absorbed a heartbreaking playoff loss to Sarah Ababa at Del Monte before responding with a dominant seven-shot victory at Apo Golf.
Pradera Verde presents a different test from Pinewoods.
Gone are Pinewoods’ tight fairways, uneven lies and demanding elevation changes.
In their place is a sprawling and relatively flat Pradera Verde layout that appears forgiving off the tee but requires power, precision, creativity and patience.
Designed by Mike Singgaran, Pradera Verde rewards aggressive play more than conservative course management.
Its wide fairways invite players to attack, but proper positioning remains critical to setting up makeable birdie chances.
The layout also places a premium on distance control, precise iron play and confident putting because of slick and subtly contoured greens.
If the expected breeze swirls across the exposed fairways, club selection and trajectory control could become decisive.
What appears to be a straightforward birdie course can quickly become a mental test, with minor miscalculations magnified by gusting winds and fast putting surfaces.
Avaricio will also face a motivated chasing pack eager for redemption.
Constantino, the runaway winner at Caliraya Springs, heads to Pradera Verde after a spirited closing charge at Pinewoods, where she birdied three of her last five holes to salvage a runner-up finish.
Lee remains one of the most dangerous players in the field despite last week’s disappointment.
The young campaigner held a commanding four-shot advantage entering the final round in Baguio before Avaricio’s relentless charge and a costly opening stretch denied her victory.
Daniella Uy is also expected to contend after coming close to winning at Pradera Verde last year.
Uy finished tied for second with Seoyun Kim behind then-champion Sam Bruce, giving her valuable familiarity with the course as she seeks to end a lengthy LPGT title drought.
Princess Superal and Mafy Singson are also looking to bounce back after failing to contend at Pinewoods.
Multi-titled Yvon Bisera hopes for a healthier outing after an unfortunate setback in Baguio.
Bisera, fresh from an impressive overseas campaign highlighted by a runner-up finish in the Singapore Ladies Masters, injured her left hand during the Pinewoods tournament and battled through the pain to finish 10th.
With additional recovery time, the Davaoeña is expected to mount a stronger challenge.
Pradera Verde’s risk-reward character could also open the door for a breakthrough champion.
Changing wind conditions may level the field and place greater emphasis on smart decision-making under pressure.
Emerging contenders Pamela Mariano, Marvi Monsalve, Velinda Castil, Kayla Nocum, Rev Alcantara, Angela Mangana and Monica Mandario are among those looking to take advantage.
Mandario flashed promise by forcing her way into contention during the opening round at Pinewoods before fading over the closing rounds to finish ninth.
On the men’s side, Go heads to Pradera Verde riding the confidence of a dominant victory at the Pinewoods Challenge.
The Cebuano ace is also chasing a larger goal beyond another trophy: improving his Philippine Golf Tour Order of Merit position.
Go wants to regain a place among the Top 30 and build momentum before resuming his overseas campaign.
The fourth leg of this year’s PGT gives Go another opportunity to strengthen his ranking after producing one of the most convincing victories in recent tour memory.
What was expected to be a tight contest at Pinewoods’ demanding mountain layout turned into a one-man show.
Go seized control in the third round and cruised through the final day for a 12-shot victory over Jeffren Lumbo.
The Pinewoods win also earned Go the PHP 441,500 champion’s purse.
“I need to play well at Pinewoods and Pradera Verde so I can keep my card,” said the former national standout, who remains driven by the disappointment of missing last year’s The Country Club Invitational, the PGT’s flagship tournament.
“Last year I wasn’t able to play at TCC because I wasn’t in the Top 30, and that hurt me. So my goal is to get back (into the Top 30),” he said, referring to his absence after failing to qualify through the OOM because of overseas commitments.
Go enters as the player to beat, but another elite field is out to stop his momentum.
Angelo Que leads the challengers as the defending Pradera Verde champion.
Que used last year’s Pradera Verde victory as a springboard to his first OOM crown.
The three-time Asian Tour winner has already launched another OOM bid this season after edging Tony Lascuña by one stroke at Caliraya Springs last month.
Que struggled at Pinewoods and settled for a share of 15th place, but he is expected to thrive on the more familiar terrain of Pradera Verde as he seeks to reclaim the crown.
Clyde Mondilla, Keanu Jahns, Zanieboy Gialon, Guido van der Valk, Rupert Zaragosa and Dino Villanueva are also looking for bounce-back performances.
Lumbo hopes to build on his runner-up finish at Pinewoods as he pursues a second PGT title.
Carl Corpus and Reymon Jaraula return to the circuit eager to contend in the fourth stop of the 10-leg tour organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc.
The official PGT tournament listing shows a prize fund of PHP 2,000,000 for the 2026 ICTSI Pradera Verde Championship.
The Pradera Verde stop offers both tours a sharp contrast from the mountain conditions of Baguio, setting up a week where power, patience and wind management could define the title race.
