Auto mechanic killed in Pontevedra attack

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — An auto mechanic died after he was struck in the head with an angle bar by his neighbor Wednesday evening, May 6, in Barangay Rizal, Pontevedra, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as alias “Ronilo,” 43, of the same village, while the suspect was identified as alias “Jimmy,” of legal age and a resident of the same barangay.
An investigation by the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station showed that while the suspect’s wife was fixing something inside their house, the victim arrived carrying a gallon of water, which he poured in front of the suspect’s house.
The suspect immediately confronted the victim and struck him in the head with the angle bar, causing a commotion.
Some residents responded and brought the victim to Bailan District Hospital in Pontevedra for treatment, but he died around 2:30 a.m. on May 7.
The suspect was immediately arrested by police and is presently under the custody of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges.
Police are looking into an old grudge as the possible motive behind the incident.
