Authorities bust 3 fishers for illegal operations in Capiz waters

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Authorities arrested three individuals caught engaging in illegal fishing operations off the coast of Ivisan, Capiz, on Friday morning, July 3.
The suspects were apprehended for performing a prohibited fishing method locally known as “timing” without the necessary permits.
Police identified the boat captain as 35-year-old alias Ricarjen.
The apprehended crew members are 37-year-old alias Lito and 30-year-old alias Joebel.
All three suspects are residents of Barangay Barra in Roxas City.
Operating teams seized one fishing boat with an estimated value of PHP 150,000.
Authorities also confiscated various fishing paraphernalia valued at PHP 50,000.
The team recovered approximately 10 kilograms of assorted fish worth PHP 2,000.
The suspects are currently in the custody of the Ivisan Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office.
Confiscated items were also turned over to the local environmental office for proper documentation.
The local government will file formal charges against the fishermen for violating the Municipal Fisheries Code.
