BACOLOD CITY — The Philippine Coast Guard has reassigned two senior officers to new leadership roles in Western Visayas and the Negros Island Region as part of a command rotation held Friday, Sept. 19.
Commodores Ludovico Librilla Jr. and Christopher Auro officially swapped posts during joint turnover ceremonies presided over by Vice Admiral Edgar Ybañez, PCG deputy commandant for operations, at Citadines Amigo Hotel in Iloilo City.
Librilla was reassigned to lead Coast Guard District Western Visayas (CGDWV), while Auro took over as commander of Coast Guard District Southern Visayas (CGDSV), which covers the Negros Island Region.
Both officers are natives of Iloilo province.
Auro expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve in CGDSV, bringing with him leadership insights and operational experience gained during his CGDWV assignment.
He described his previous post as especially meaningful, having been given the chance to serve his home region.
“It has been both a privilege and a fulfilling experience,” Auro said.
Librilla, who previously served as CGDWV deputy commander, also looked back on his years in Western Visayas and said those experiences have shaped his leadership values.
He vowed to lead with “loyalty, compassion, and integrity” and to remain committed to public service.
Librilla served in CGDSV for less than a year before the reassignment.
He praised CGDSV personnel for their professionalism and urged them to show the same commitment under the incoming commander.
“I encourage you to continue extending the same loyalty, respect, and dedication to your next commander,” Librilla said.
“With your unity and teamwork, I am confident that CGDSV will reach even greater heights.”
“Take good care of all that we have built and invested together for the growth of our district.”
Ybañez underscored that the turnover ceremony is not only a transfer of authority but also a reflection of the Coast Guard’s continuity of service.
He noted that leadership is not defined by tenure but by the positive legacy left behind.
“It is not about authority but about responsibility,” Ybañez said.
“It is not about recognition, but about sacrifice — and always, it’s about service to the Filipino people.”
