Ateneo isn’t ready to surrender their title in the next UAAP season.
While the other schools are getting lauded for bringing in class talents, the Ateneo Blue Eagles are also working silently in getting the pieces they need to defend their championship.
Despite the exit of former Blue Eagles stars Mike and Matt Nieto, Isaac Go, and King Eagle Thirdy Ravena, head coach Tab Baldwin isn’t bothered at all.
Although it was a huge blow in losing Matt in the point guard spot, a young and emerging Fil-Italian will run the show for the white and blue.
Gabriel Gomez, one of the brightest teen sensations playing overseas, was just secured to become the newest Blue Eagle.
The main gunner of the Italy Proudly Pinoy squad during the 2019 Chooks-to-Go NBTC National Finals, he and Cholo Anonuevo lifted their team to a top four finish in the Division II category.
Also, the newest Blue Eagle was hailed as the Proudly Pinoy’s league MVP from 2018 to 2019 and will go down as one of the best high school ballers out there.
Gomez’s addition will provide an exciting backcourt rotation together with SJ Belangel, Tyler Tio, and Gian Mamuyac.
