KALIBO, Aklan – Justin Lei D. Dioso, a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering student from Aklan State University (ASU) Kalibo Campus, emerged champion of the 29th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Provincial Level conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) at Meding’s Pavilion and Garden on October 24.
Dioso bested 26 other participants from various colleges and universities across Aklan.
Floriebhe Pearl R. Venturanza, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student from ASU Banga, secured 2nd Place, while Gabriel Zachary C. Cuales, a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy student from St. Gabriel College, took 3rd.
The winners received medals, certificates of recognition, cash prizes, and tokens, and will represent Aklan in the regional elimination round on November 6 in Iloilo City.
The Philippine Statistics Quiz is held annually in line with the National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration to promote statistical literacy among the youth.
It also highlights the role of statistics in evidence-based decision-making, policy formulation, and development planning toward the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Through this initiative, PSA Aklan continues to inspire the next generation of statisticians, innovators, and nation-builders, proving that the province’s youth are ready not only to compete but also to lead in shaping a data-driven, progressive Philippines.
Participating schools in this year’s PSQ included St. Gabriel College, Aklan Catholic College (ACC), Libacao College of Science and Technology (LCST), Northwestern Visayan Colleges (NVC), STI Kalibo, and ASU campuses in Banga, Ibajay, Kalibo, and New Washington.
