BACOLOD City – An assistant barangay secretary of Singcang-Airport here was found dead on Alice Street in the said village early Thursday morning.
Police identified the victim as Reynaldo Apuhin of Purok Sampaguita 2, Barangay Singcang-Airport, a member of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.
Police Major Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8, said they have obtained a copy of a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showing the victim chasing two unidentified men who passed by the barangay hall.
However, after a few minutes, the victim was found with stab wounds in the neck and chest.
Puerto said they could not tell yet if the victim and the two unidentified men were together until they reached Alice Street or if someone else was behind the killing.
Meanwhile, Barangay Captain Rosinie Distrito said that Apuhin worked at the barangay hall for several years now, as he was assigned in the releasing of clearances.
“Wala man ko may nadumduman or nabal-an na may kontra siya kay kung ano isugo sa iya gina tuman niya man,” Distrito said.
Distrito said Apuhin left the barangay hall past 12 midnight as he was rushing to do some things in the office. Two hours later, he was found dead.
Police are trying to gather more evidence to give justice to the victim and his family.
Distrito said they wanted to know if the two unidentified men could help the police in the investigation as witnesses or might be behind the incident.
He said the victim’s cellular phone, wallet, and bag were intact when he was found.
