BACOLOD CITY – A 22-year-old college student pursuing a Bachelor in English Education at Philippine Normal University-Visayas (PNU-V) was crowned Sinigayan Queen 2026 during the 30th Sinigayan Festival in Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
Jeatrice Joie Duro, representing Barangay Paraiso, outshone nine other candidates during the coronation night held at the Sagay City gymnasium on Wednesday. She also secured several corporate awards and was named Best in Photogenic.
Duro has built an impressive track record in pageantry and the arts, having previously won Binibining Sulo 2025 and Binibining Pamantasan-System 2023, and placing first runner-up in Lin-ay sang Paraiso 2017.
Beyond pageantry, she is an accomplished artist, earning first place in Digital Arts Polymath 2025.
She is musically inclined as well, playing instruments such as the ukulele, guitar, and piano, and showcasing her talent in beatboxing, as well as a member of her school’s chorale.
As she continues her journey toward becoming an educator, Duro remains committed to her advocacy, “Eskwela for All,” which promotes accessible and inclusive education for every learner.
Other winners include Sinigayan Queen Tourism Precious Angel Bajada of Barangay Old Sagay, Sinigayan Queen Charity Sofia Nicole Banola of Barangay Fabrica, 1st Princess Mary Grace Chuatico of Barangay Vito, and 2nd Princess Trisha Mae Caballos of Barangay Lopez Jaena.
This year’s Sinigayan Festival, themed “We Learn, We Live, We Love,” runs from March 16 to 20, featuring various cultural, sports, and community activities across the city.
In his message, Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva emphasized that the festival serves as a time for Sagaynons to celebrate their shared identity while looking ahead to the city’s future.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental second district Rep. Alfredo Marañon III highlighted the importance of learning, living, and loving as guiding values for community growth.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson also underscored the role of cultural celebrations in strengthening community pride and preserving local traditions across the province.
To ensure safety and order throughout the festivities, around 130 police personnel were deployed during the event.
