ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Pork somai sold by two market vendors at Mambusao Public Market in Mambusao, Capiz tested positive for African Swine Fever (ASF).
The meat used to make the siomai reportedly came from Antipolo, Rizal, one of the ASF affected areas in the country.
Recently, 11 packs of frozen siomai were confiscated by a task force at Iloilo Terminal Market in Iloilo City.
According to the vendor who asked not to be named, he had been selling siomai products from the same manufacturer in Antipolo. He doesn’t even know about the ASF.
At present, the provincial government has banned the entry of pork and other processed and frozen meat products in the province.
