Army probes alleged troop threat in Bago City

BACOLOD CITY — The Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) has ordered an immediate, thorough, and impartial investigation into the alleged threat recently made by military personnel against a family in Barangay Ma-ao, Bago City, Negros Occidental.

Although it did not elaborate on the details of the alleged incident, the 3ID stressed in a statement that it does not and will never tolerate any form of threat or intimidation by soldiers against civilians.

The Army emphasized that respect for human rights remains its foremost priority and that it is committed to ensuring its troops uphold the highest standards of discipline and accountability in the performance of their duties.

The Army said the investigation is essential not only to clarify the circumstances but also to ensure that appropriate action is taken should any violations be established.

It noted that the findings of the investigation will also help strengthen existing safeguards and internal measures, reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy against any form of misconduct.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to peace, security, and the protection of the rights of every Negrense,” it said.

The 3ID vowed to continue building trust, fostering constructive engagement, and promoting harmony within communities, guided by its mandate and values.

The 3ID, based at Camp Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz, oversees Army units operating across much of the Visayas, including Negros Island.
