BACOLOD City – The Army’s 542nd Engineering Construction Battalion under the operational control of 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde) assigned personnel to assist in the repair of a school facility to be used as coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) quarantine area here.
A team of Army engineers composed of carpenters, plumbers, and electricians was deployed to Handumanan Elementary School 1 over the weekend to reinforce the city engineers and hasten the renovation of the quarantine facilities.
Their tasks included fabrication of curtain frame (metal furring), wall fan installation, and repair of electrical connections, among others.
Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd IBde commander, said in a statement, that the Army supports the city government in its control measures against the spread of COVID-19.
“We are always ready to extend the necessary assistance to our local government units,” he added.
Pasaporte urged Bacolodons to cooperate and abide by the health protocols set forth by the health authorities.
“Let us help one another especially in these challenging times,” he said.
