Major General Marion Sison, commander of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division, received the prestigious JRTF Gawad Parangal Award for his leadership in promoting peacebuilding efforts in Central and Western Visayas.
The award was conferred during the 6th Founding Anniversary of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon City on December 6.
The event highlighted NTF-ELCAC’s milestones in fostering peace, security, and development, particularly its role in reintegrating former rebels into society and empowering communities toward sustainable growth.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., in his message during the celebration, emphasized the government’s future strategies for sustaining peace and accelerating community development.
He commended the collective efforts that resulted in the simultaneous declaration of insurgency-free areas and the establishment of internal peace and security.
The ceremony also recognized individuals and organizations whose relentless dedication contributed to the task force’s mission to end the decades-long insurgency in the Philippines.
In his acceptance speech, Sison credited the achievement to a collective effort involving the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), local government units (LGUs), and community stakeholders.
“The award symbolizes the dedication of countless individuals working together toward a common goal to create a nation where every Filipino can live in peace, security, and dignity,” Sison said.
He emphasized that the recognition highlighted not just his leadership but also the collective accomplishments of the Spearhead Troopers and the entire task force in fostering a culture of peace, inclusivity, and resilience.
“Together, we have demonstrated that unity and resilience can overcome even the most formidable challenges,” Sison added.
The celebration also showcased NTF-ELCAC’s community outreach initiatives, underscoring its mission to transform conflict-affected areas into peaceful and thriving communities.
