Fourteen soldiers of the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division were honored for exemplary service during Philippine Army commanding general Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete’s first visit to Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz.
Nafarrete led the Oct. 11 awarding rites conferring distinctions on six officers and eight enlisted personnel, including the Gawad sa Kapayapaan, Military Achievement Medal, Gold Cross Medal, Silver Cross Medal, and the Military Merit Medal with Bronze Spear Device.
The 67th commanding general of the Philippine Army was welcomed with arrival honors led by 3ID commander Maj. Gen. Michael Samson.
He also held a “Talk to Troops” where he congratulated awardees and cited the division’s commitment across Western and Central Visayas, including the Negros Island Region.
“Your Army will always support you with all the capacity that we have,” Nafarrete said.
“Let us continue the good work, and hopefully we will be able to finish our Internal Security Operations and focus again on another big responsibility; the Territorial Defense Operations,” he added.
“Let us continue what is tasked with us and rest assured we will support you,” Nafarrete said.
On Monday, the Iloilo provincial government, through a Sangguniang Panlalawigan resolution, bestowed a commendation on Nafarrete, who also received a plaque of recognition during the Provincial Capitol’s flag ceremony.
