One of the most wanted persons in Antique province was arrested on the evening of May 19 in San Remigio town.
The suspect, identified by the alias Jun, 24, was cornered during a police manhunt operation in Barangay Aningalan, San Remigio.
Members of the San Remigio Municipal Police Station carried out the arrest by virtue of an arrest warrant for statutory rape through sexual assault under Article 266-A, Paragraph 2 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 8353, in relation to Section 5(b) of Republic Act No. 7610, as amended by Republic Act No. 11648.
The 6th Regional Trial Court, Branch 12 in San Jose, Antique, issued the arrest warrant on May 15, 2026.
A PHP 10,000 bail bond was recommended for his temporary liberty.
The suspect is listed as the top 5 most wanted person in Antique province.
According to Police Master Sgt. April Joy Yanson, chief of the San Remigio PNP Women and Children’s Protection Desk, the 15-year-old complainant is a relative of the suspect’s live-in partner.
As to the lower bail bond, Yanson explained that it was probably because Jun was able to file a counteraffidavit and attach a certificate of indigency.
The suspect was still detained as of press time.
However, he was already in the process of posting bail.
