A construction worker facing a violence against women and children charge in Iloilo was arrested on the morning of May 14 in San Jose, Antique.
The suspect, identified only as alias Edison, 34, of Barangay Magsaysay in Patnongon, Antique, was arrested in Barangay San Fernando in San Jose.
Personnel of the Guimbal Municipal Police Station served the arrest warrant for violation of Section 5(B) of Republic Act No. 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004, docketed as Criminal Case No. 4314.
Judge Nelita Jesusa Arboleda-Bacaling of the Regional Trial Court Branch 72 in Guimbal, Iloilo, issued the warrant.
Bail was set at PHP 36,000 for his temporary release.
Police said the suspect is Guimbal town’s No. 1 most wanted person.
Republic Act No. 9262 penalizes acts of violence, threats, harassment, and other forms of abuse against women and their children.
The suspect is in police custody pending further court proceedings.
