BACOLOD City – Barangay officials in Barangay Gahit, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental rescued a sea turtle trapped in a fish cage on Wednesday.
Environment Management Specialist II (EMS II) Jojo Vargas said the turtle was 24 inches long and 16 inches wide.
It was physically fit and was released back into the sea, he added.
This is the second turtle rescued in the town in the past five days.
Vargas thanked the barangay officials for making an initiative to conserve marine life.
Last week, a sea turtle that also got trapped in a fish cage at Barangay Pasil was freed back into the waters.
