Another resident of Iloilo City was caught in a police anti-narcotics operation in La Paz, Iloilo City afternoon of Sept. 22, 2020.
The suspect was identified as Joebert Feril, 35, of Barangay Caingin, La Paz, the area where the buy-bust operation was conducted.
Combined forces of Janiuay Police Station, Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (IPPO-PDEU) Team 2, and La Paz Police Station arrested the suspect following a brief chase.
Captain Eleazar Climacosa, Janiuay police chief, said they worked for the arrest of Feril after the latter was monitored to be peddling illegal drugs in Janiuay town.
Test buys were done against him in Janiuay prior to the buy bust operation.
Feril had been on the police watchlist of illegal drug personalities. When police operatives transacted with the suspect, they initially agreed to meet in Janiuay.
But after several changes, they settled to complete the deal in La Paz, Iloilo City.
The suspect sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P3,200:
The money and a sachet of suspected shabu with a street value of P7,000 were later seized from Feril’s possession.
But when he learned that he was dealing with a police undercover agent, the suspect tried to evade arrest. The police poseur buyer ran after the suspect but had a bad fall and hurt his legs.
Climacosa said the suspect was injured on his knees while the policeman is still in the hospital to have his legs checked.
The suspect is now detained at the lock-up cell of Janiuay Police Station and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
