Face-to-face classes at all levels at Iloilo Doctors’ College were suspended on Feb. 18 following a bomb threat.
Through its official Facebook page, the announcement was made citing “security concern in accordance with the Memorandum issued by the Office of the Administrator.”
According to police reports, two IDC Medicine students received voice messages at around 11:34 p.m. on Feb. 17 and 12:20 a.m. on Feb. 18.
The message reads: “Sasabog kayo lahat sa feb 18-21 hulaan niyo nalang kailan diyan sasabog wahahaha.”
The same message was sent by two different Facebook account holders.
At around 11:31 p.m. Tuesday and 12:18 a.m. Wednesday, the same exact voice and text message were received by two students from the College of Physical Therapy.
Capt. Ryan Christ Inot, Iloilo City Police Station 4 chief, said they received the information at around 7:30 a.m.
They subsequently called the Iloilo City Police Office Explosives Ordinance Division to respond.
When the team of Police Lt. Felipe Flores Jr. arrived, there was no student in the area.
At 7:45 a.m., the team conducted an intrusive paneling.
It ended at about 8:40 a.m. with no improvised explosive device found in the area.
It was gathered that the two Facebook accounts that sent the messages could no longer be accessed.
The case was referred to the PNP Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 6 for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the IDC administration declared that the campuses were safe as of 9:30 a.m.
It also announced the resumption of face-to-face classes by 1 p.m.
From Jan. 1 to Feb. 18, the Police Regional Office 6 recorded 20 bomb threats in Western Visayas.
Aklan province logged the most number of hoax bomb threats at 13, while Iloilo City has five and Iloilo province has two.
