BACOLOD City – The city government of Sipalay in Negros Occidental released another batch of sea turtle hatchlings at Poblacion beach last Wednesday.
According to the local government, these 45 hatchlings were Olive Ridley sea turtles.
Bantay Dagat coordinator Edsel Toledo said it usually takes about 60 days for the eggs to hatch.
The nest was sighted in November last year, Toledo said.
It was one of the three nests that are being closely monitored by the Bantay Dagat.
Just last month, the Bantay Dagat also released 82 hatchlings of sea turtles, two months after monitoring their nest at the Local Conservation Area in Barangay 5.
