BACOLOD CITY – A local animal welfare group here is mourning the death of “Tiktok,” a rescued dog who previously survived a brutal dart attack but died in a tragic car accident on Sunday.
“We don’t know how to put this into words. Today, we lost Tiktok in a tragic accident while she was in foster care,” the BACH Project PH said in a social media post.
The group reported that Tiktok slipped out, ran, and was hit by a car.
“It was so sudden, and even now, it feels impossible to accept,” the post read.
Tiktok’s remains were made available for limited public viewing at Green Meadows Pet Aftercare – Pet Cremation in Negros Occidental from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sept. 8 before her cremation.
“We grieved deeply, and the pain is heavy,” BACH Project PH said.
“Rescue work is full of heartbreaks, and this is one of the hardest we’ve faced,” they added.
The group shared that Tiktok had been placed in foster care because their shelter is currently battling a distemper outbreak, and they wanted to protect her.
“She was given love and comfort in a foster home, but fate dealt a cruel hand,” they said.
“She was supposed to be safe. She was supposed to have more time. The ‘what ifs’ are endless, and the pain of losing her is unbearable.”
“As rescuers, we carry so much guilt when tragedies like this happen, even when we know we did our best,” they said.
“We ask for your understanding as we go through this painful time, and we invite you to remember Tiktok with us,” the group said.
Tiktok gained public attention in February after being found injured with five dart arrows embedded in her body in Murcia town, Negros Occidental.
She fully recovered under the care of BACH Project PH and joined the Athlerun Pawtection Run 2025 last month, where she crossed the finish line.
