BATANGAS CITY – Pool A takes center stage as the Premier Volleyball League On Tour resumes today, June 28, with a double-header at the Batangas City Sports Center.
Following the successful opening leg in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, which drew enthusiastic crowds and intense matches, four teams gear up for high-stakes action with momentum and redemption on the line.
All-Filipino Conference champion Petro Gazz and fourth-placer Choco Mucho aim to assert dominance against Nxled and Galeries Tower, respectively—two squads eager to upset the early pecking order in the preseason tilt organized by Sports Vision.
The Flying Titans collide with the Chameleons at 4 p.m., setting the stage for the 6:30 p.m. showdown between the Angels and the Highrisers.
Petro Gazz, favored despite missing stars Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips due to national team duties with Alas Pilipinas in the VTV Cup in Vietnam, remains formidable with key holdovers Jonah Sabete, Myla Pablo, Nicole Tiamzon, Aiza Pontillas, Ranya Musa, and Joy Dacoron.
Veteran setters Djanel Cheng and Chie Saet will orchestrate the offense, while Baby Love Barbon and Jellie Tempiatura shore up floor defense.
Galeries Tower, which placed eighth in the last conference, is out to compete—not just participate—after showing flashes of promise last season, including a stunner over Cignal.
Coach Lerma Giron continues to mold a gritty team led by Jewel Encarnacion, Ysa Jimenez, and France Ronquillo at the frontline, supported by veterans Roselle Baliton, Andrea Marzan, and Dimdim Pacres.
Fhen Emnas directs the offense as Galeries looks to capitalize on Petro Gazz’s lineup gaps.
Meanwhile, Choco Mucho enters the tour without standout rookie setter Tia Andaya, also on national duty, but still boasts a deep roster.
With Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Royse Tubino, Isa Molde, and Des Cheng spearheading offense, and Cherry Nunag and Lorraine Pecaña patrolling the net, the Flying Titans remain a serious threat.
Today’s games follow Pool B’s opener in Vigan, where Creamline and Cignal swept Akari and Capital1, respectively, in a display of depth and intensity.
Despite finishing at the bottom of the All-Filipino Conference, Nxled is poised for a fresh start with a lineup that includes EJ Laure, Lucille Almonte, Lycha Ebon, May Luna, and Chiara Permentilla.
If the Chameleons can stay composed, improve reception, and control the tempo, they have the firepower to spring an upset.
Sunday’s double-header flips matchups, with Choco Mucho taking on Galeries Tower at 6:30 p.m., and Petro Gazz clashing with Nxled in the 4 p.m. curtain-raiser.
These early matches will be crucial for building chemistry and momentum ahead of the next full PVL conference.
