Andrade named Siquijor police officer-in-charge

BACOLOD CITY — The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region has designated Police Col. Mark Anthony Andrade as the new officer-in-charge of the Siquijor Provincial Police Office.

Police Col. Villaflor Bannawagan, acting deputy regional director for administration of PRO-NIR, presided over the turnover of command ceremony at Maringal Hall, Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr., in Barangay Estefania here on Saturday.

Andrade, who was chief of the Regional Community Affairs Development Division of PRO-NIR, succeeded Police Col. Emelie Santos, who will be moved to Police Regional Office 7, or Central Visayas.

PRO-NIR urged Andrade to further strengthen the unit’s law enforcement initiatives, enhance community engagement, and sustain the intensified campaign against criminality in support of maintaining peace, order, and public trust across Siquijor province.

In his message, Bannawagan underscored the vital role of partnership and cooperation among stakeholders, local government units, and the community in sustaining peace, security, and public trust.

He expressed confidence in Andrade’s ability to further strengthen professionalism, unity, and service-oriented leadership.

He emphasized that the ceremony symbolizes not only the transfer of authority but also the continuity of leadership, responsibility, and commitment to public service.

Bannawagan expressed gratitude to Santos for her dedicated service and valuable contributions during her nearly two-year stint in Siquijor.

Meanwhile, Santos thanked the provincial police force, provincial government, stakeholders, and the people of Siquijor for the love, trust, and unwavering support they gave her during her stint.

“Serving the beautiful province of Siquijor and working alongside dedicated people has been a truly meaningful and unforgettable journey,” Santos said in a message.

Santos said she will always cherish the friendships, cooperation, and memories they have shared in pursuit of peace and public service.

“Siquijor will always have a special place in my heart,” she added.
