Pen was put to paper on May 19th as Humanitarian and Philanthropist, Miss Tara Bunch signed on as the first foreign Ambassadress for PITAHC.
As the Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care (PITAHC) pushes the amendment of Republic Act No. 8423 or known as Traditional and Alternative Medicine Act (TAMA) of 1997 in order to make it more responsive to the call of present time, Ms. Tara Bunch, B.A, MBA, has been chosen as Ambassadress for Legislative affairs to assist the institute in soliciting dialogue and sharing of information on Traditional and Complementary Medicine practices and practitioners , Director General Annabelle Pabiona- De Guzman, MD.
It’s clear to see that there is a significant amount of inertia to bury traditional and indigenous aspects of effective Filipino medicine. I have observed how wonderfully effective it can be first hand and the Philippines Presidential Proclamation No. 698 states, “There are about 2,000 medicinal plants in the Philippines and there is a need to accelerate the research and development of these plants for medical use.” The Philippines has one of the most diverse flora environments on the planet with thousands of potential therapeutics left undiscovered and not yet investigated.
“I see the role of PITAHC to help advance the Philippines into a world leader of sources plant based for health care therapeutics into the 21st century and beyond. This is such an honour to be given the opportunity to fulfil the goals and missions of PITAHC while preserving, promoting and protecting indigenous Filipino medicine. I’ll do my best to highlight the Philippines on a global scale and be an Ambassadress for progress in fulfilling the roles designated to me.”- Ambassadress Tara Bunch
Tara Bunch is also well known for her work and support within the PNP. She was honoured at Camp Crame in March for Women’s month as an influential and empowered woman of the Philippines for her humanitarian work. She is featured in a number of their Pulis fitness training videos alongside the top PNP Generals at Camp Crame. Again, this June 2nd she received a Certificate of Appreciation from Police General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar, Chief, PNP, for her invaluable support to the Philippine National Police as an esteemed partner and advocate. “Looking at Tara, she is all foreigner, but her heart sincerely shares what we Filipinos aspire for, peace and progress. She is not just a supporter, but an active participant to many police-community collaborations and activities. It is admirable for a foreigner to do so in this country she considers her second home.” – PMGen. Rhodel O Sermonia, Director, Directorate for Police Community Relations. Bunch shares residence in Tarlac and Quezon City and documents her life in the Philippines via a Facebook blog under the page Miss Tara Bunch (https://www.facebook.com/MissTaraBunch/) and is known for her hashtags @AmerikanaSaProbinsya #AmerikanaSaMaynila.
