For the first time since becoming a star with the Ateneo Lady Eagles, Alyssa “The Phenom” Valdez will miss the Southeast Asian Games due to a right ankle injury and is forced to sit out for at least 2 months.
Valdez, who has been a consistent member of the Philippine team in every international tournament including the SEA Games, suffered a right ankle injury during a practice last September 13.
Valdez also missed out on the recently concluded ASEAN Grand Prix which they placed third at Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
With the Philippine Superliga’s adjustment of their schedule in support of the Filipina spikers, the squad will be ready to bring home the bacon even without its star spiker.
Fil-Hawaiian Kalei Mau, Majoy Baron, Mylene Paat, Ces Molina, and Abby Maraño will be expected to step up in the absence of Valdez.
Before the SEA Games, the Philippines will host the second leg of the ASEAN Grand Prix this coming October 4 to 6 at the Sta. Rosa Complex, Laguna.
