ROXAS CITY, Capiz— A suspected robber, arrested for illegal possession of firearms, admitted involvement in a series of robberies, claiming he gave the stolen goods to poor individuals in need.
“I’m doing the Robin Hood or Lupin III style in stealing. Whatever I take, I give to individuals who badly need it,” said Jay Maniapo Alloc, also known as “Siping,” a 27-year-old resident of McKinley Street, Barangay 1, Roxas City.
Alloc, who has been tagged in multiple robbery incidents in the area, said he felt pity for people without financial means and claimed his actions were driven by compassion.
He admitted that stealing had become a habit but said he was moved by the plight of those who had no money.
Alloc added that he would spend more time with his family if released from jail.
Alloc was charged with violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act and the Omnibus Election Code in relation to COMELEC Resolution 11067.
The charges were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office last week.
The suspect was arrested during a buy-bust operation on Monday evening, February 3, at Sitio Gaba, Barangay Banica, Roxas City, at around 7:15 p.m.
The operation was conducted by the Roxas City Police and the 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC).
Police recovered a sling bag, a caliber .38 revolver, a .22 caliber pistol, a magazine loaded with four live rounds, a PHP 100 bill, and PHP 800 in boodle money from the suspect.
Alloc is currently detained at the Roxas City Police Station for proper disposition.
Authorities stated that the operation followed a week of monitoring and surveillance on the suspect.
