Alleged rebel nabbed in Himamaylan

BACOLOD City – A man believed to be a member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested at Sitio Ubay, Barangay Caradio-an, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental last Monday.
Joint operatives of Himamaylan City Police Station and Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion (IB) arrested Warren Lozano, 26, of the said village.
The military and police were conducting an operation to verify an intelligence report on the alleged presence of an NPA rebel when they sighted Lozano who was allegedly armed.
Lozano is an active member of Squad 3, RSF, Komiteng Rehiyon Negros, Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor (KR – NCBS), the Army claimed.
Lieutenant Arturo Margallo Jr., deputy police chief of Himamaylan City Police Station, said Lozano was arrested for violation of illegal firearms and ammunition, and illegal possession of explosives.
Recovered from the suspect were .45 caliber pistol, magazine loaded with six ammunition, and two .40mm cartridge of M203 grenade launcher hidden in a black sock.
Margallo said the charges are being readied against the suspect, who is now under police custody.
