The towns of Alimodian and Zarraga in central Iloilo have received new community buildings from the Department of Public Works and Highways Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office.
According to a report by District Engineer Mario G. Soriano, DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel said the multi-purpose buildings provide a suitable venue for various community events and activities.
In Alimodian, the project cost PHP4.947 million and includes the construction of a community stage that serves as a vital space for gatherings, programs and other events.
The stage was designed to meet the community’s needs while being accessible, functional and sustainable.
“This structure fosters community spirit by providing a dedicated space for cultural expression, promotes social interaction among residents, and serves as a platform for local talents to shine,” Oropel said.

In Zarraga, the PHP4.945-million project involved the construction of a one-story building that includes earthworks, concrete works, structural components, electrical installations and finishing work.
It also features amenities such as comfort rooms to ensure residents have a convenient and comfortable space for their needs.
“This structure is built to provide a convenient venue for any activity or event the locality may conduct,” Soriano said.
“This is our simple way of making sure that our people have a better space for community activities and personal development affairs.”
The construction of these multi-purpose buildings supports the DPWH’s mission of delivering quality infrastructure that responds to the needs of the people. (DPWH)
