Filipina tennis star Alexandra “Alex” Eala is set to face world No. 9 Mirra Andreeva this weekend at the MGM Macau Tennis Masters.
The women’s singles match is scheduled for Sunday, according to the event’s official website.
Eala, who recently made history by breaking into the WTA Top 100, will challenge the 18-year-old Russian, who has had a standout 2025 season with two WTA 1000 titles.
Andreeva captured the Dubai Tennis Championships in February and the Indian Wells Open in March, establishing herself as one of the tour’s rising stars.
Eala will also compete in the mixed doubles event on Saturday, partnering with Juncheng Shang of China. The duo will face Andreeva and Wu Yibing.
The MGM Macau Tennis Masters is a non-ranking exhibition tournament that features top international players and caps off Eala’s most successful season to date.
This year, Eala achieved multiple milestones, including her first Grand Slam main-draw win, a WTA 125 title in Guadalajara, and her first Southeast Asian Games gold medal.
The 2025 campaign marks a turning point for Eala, as she continues to elevate her presence on the global tennis stage.
