Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala fell to the third spot months before claiming the world no. 2 in the International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) World Juniors rankings.
Robin Montgomery of the United States stole Eala’s spot with a total of 2766.25 points, a tally finished right after the recently concluded 2021 US Open.
Eala finished the grand slam tournament with quarterfinal qualification for both the singles and the doubles category.
The 16-year-old Filipina had 2,643 points after the US Open and is seeking to reclaim her spot as she braces for the upcoming international tournaments sanctioned by the ITF and the WTA.
Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva of Andorra remains as the world’s no.1 juniors tennis player with total accumulated points of 3154.75.
With the Grand Slam calendar now concluded with the end of 2021 US Open, Eala is looking to join circuit tournaments all around the globe to further boost her points.
Her last Grand Slam championship was during the French Open Girls’ Doubles when she partnered with Russia’s Oksana Selekhmeteva.
With three months left before the year ends, Eala is looking to go higher and win the remaining international tournaments left for her.
